Noctiferia: Per aspera

Just by looking at the bandpicture I get the feeling these fuckers are from Poland. And if it’s from Poland, it usually means there’s a huge chance of it being some quite excellent death metal. Or you can be unlucky and get hold of Darzamat, then you have something that’s everything BUT good.
But naturally, it’s not Polish shit this time. At least I think it’s not. I think they are from Slovenia, that’s what their biography says anyways, so I decide that they are from Slovenia. Their management is located there anyways, so at least they know some people from that country, that’s enough for me to determine they are from Poland, I mean Slovenia. Fuck you, I decide they are from Germany now, just becoz I can.
What have we here? Hold your dicks, I’m about to tell you. Yes, death metal of the (at times) more technical kind. Incredibly low vocals, “low” as in “low volume” that is, not “low” as in “Chris Barnes low”.
Thank God.
Noctifier, or whatever the name was, definitely owns a few Morbid Angel-albums, and probably worships Threy Ashtraytott’s playing-style, coz the influence is clear in many of the songs on this album. Further on they have listened to later Cannibal Corpse as well and thought their way of riffing is great, so Noctiflamer incorporated that too into their songs. And they do it well.
All this is blended nicely together with some melody and Opeth-like heavy riffs. This is not piss-poor at all, but what drags this effort down a bit is the dull production. If Noctiburnout went to Sweden and recorded their next album in one of our great studios, they could most likely come out of there with a blasting masterpiece of death. As for now, I see the potential and I wanna hear something more from these guys in a near future.
Death metal, and a little bit more.
I´m not completely unimpressed.
